Picky Eater.

Graham has to be the pickiest eater I’ve ever known. He must have gotten it from Tony.

For the past three years, we have gone through probably ten different brands of dog food, trying to find something that he is willing to eat. We have tried cheap food and expensive food. We’ve even bought the food that the dog across the street eats because Graham eats her food whenever he’s over there. But, as usual, after a few days, he refuses it.

We’ve even put him on a raw food diet of chicken and vegetables. That worked great for a while, but then he got to where he would only eat it if I put the chicken in the oven for about 20 minutes. Of course, after a couple of weeks of heating up his chicken, he became so picky that he would only eat it if I heated it up AND PUT MRS. DASH ON IT. Annoying. Like I don’t have other things to do during my day than cook for the dog.

So, we are trying yet another brand of dog food that he won’t eat. This time, we bought packets of gravy with meat chunks in it to mix in with the kibble. We figured he would be more likely to eat his food if it was smothered in gravy.

Well, here are a few pictures of Graham eating his food this morning. What you can’t see is that he is very meticulously picking out the meat chunks and eating what little of the kibble that he absolutely has to eat in order to get to the 15 pieces of dime sized meat chunks, leaving behind a soggy blob of kibble and gravy.

  • I’m still just thinking about if I should change food to get our new puppy not to poop right after he eats :o)

  • Maybe when Lucy becomes mobile and discovers Graham’s food and tries to eat it he will then think it must be good if she keeps trying to eat it. You do know it is just a matter of time before she has a bite of dog food. :)

  • That is funny. Is there anything he consistently likes? I mean does he want table food or is he just dissatisfied with everything.

Katelyn doesn’t ever want to eat her food. If we are eating the exact same thing she wants the food off my plate. So, I just pick up her plate and start eating her food and then she wants it, but only if I continue to hold it and eat it too. Fortunately, she will outgrow this behavior. I’m pretty sure Graham is not going to mature in this area.
